Volkswagen's US sales fell another 5% in February

On March 3, Volkswagen announced that in February this year, its sales in the United States market fell by 5% year-on-year. This means that there has been a break in the four consecutive months of year-on-year growth. Jetta (the new car corresponds to China Sagitar), Tiguan and Passat, such as the main vehicle sales are showing a decline in the month.

Even the April record was broken

In February 2015, the number of Volkswagen passenger car brands sold in the United States was 25,710 units, which was a decrease of 5.17% compared to the 27,112 units in February 2014. In the first two months of this year, Volkswagen sold 49,214 vehicles in the United States, compared with 50,606 vehicles in the same period of last year, which fell 2.75% year-on-year.

In recent years, Volkswagen's overall performance in the US market has been sluggish. From April 2013 to September 2014, the sales volume in the US market for the 18 consecutive months was down. Although growth began in October 2014 and lasted four consecutive months in January 2015, the increase was low. For example, the increase in November was halved from October, and in December it was only a slight increase of 0.1%.

From the cumulative sales, the public is not optimistic about the situation in the United States. For the full year of 2014, Volkswagen’s passenger car brands have sold 366,970 vehicles in the United States, compared to 407,704 vehicles in 2013, down 10.0% year-on-year. The first two months of this year were also weaker than the same period last year.

To this end, Volkswagen intends to issue new cars in the United States, including new SUVs based on the CrossBlue concept car, which may be related to the recent plant expansion plan. In addition, Eos and other unsold models will be eliminated and will be eliminated from the market.

Vehicle sales: Golf up Jetta, Beatles, Passat down

In each model series, the main model for cumulative sales growth in February and the first two months was only golf, while sales of Jetta, Beetle, Passat, and Tiguan all fell in the United States. In February, sales of the Golf Series in the United States soared from 1,649 vehicles in February 2014 to 137.8% year-on-year to 3,921 vehicles; cumulative sales from January to February increased by 141.6% to 8,120 units from 3,361 vehicles.

Volkswagen released the seventh-generation Golf GTI in the United States in May 2014, and gradually updated the golf lineup in the United States to become the main driving force for the golf series' climb.

The Jetta series decreased by 9.2% year-on-year to 10,811 units from 11,908 vehicles in December 2013. The cumulative sales volume in the first two months dropped by 8.7% year-on-year from 21,676 units to 19,780 units. The car is the most popular car in the United States.

The sales of the Beatles series last month from February 2014 to 2,701 were down 29.6% year-on-year to 1,902 units, the most significant decline in each major car series; January to February sales fell from 4,735 vehicles fell 30.5% year-on-year To 3,291 vehicles.

The Tiguan SUV sold 1,819 units in the United States in February and 2,019 in the same period of 2014, down 9.9% year-on-year. From January to February, the sales volume of Tiguan in the United States fell by 13.3% year-on-year from 3,796 vehicles to 3,292 vehicles.
