With a total length of 126 meters and a carrying capacity of more than 8,000 tons, the largest freighter “Henghui” built by Quanzhou has been completed on the shipbuilding platform of Xiangzhi Town, Shishi City.

According to the builder, the freighter began designing and constructing in April 2005. In March 2006, the main body of the hull was welded and formed, followed by the installation and renovation of the mainframe, electrical and armored equipment. A few days ago, the freighter has all been completed and will be tested in the water this week. Because there is no track, it is very difficult for the freighter to launch. At that time, the airbag cushion will be used to move the ship 60 meters and then launch.

It is reported that the "Henghui" freighter has a total investment of nearly 40 million yuan, a total length of 126 meters, a width of 18 meters, a depth of 8.6 meters, a design draft of 6.5 meters, a full load of 11.4 million tons, a load of 8,432 tons, and can ship standard containers 508. only. The ship is highly automated and equipped with an automatic navigation system with a speed of up to 12.3 nautical miles per hour, mainly for loading dry groceries, bulk cargo and containers.

After the launch of the freighter, mooring tests, performance tests and sea trials of various marine equipment will be carried out, and it will take one month for the final shipping to be completed.

It is reported that the earliest records of shipbuilding in Quanzhou can be traced back to the Tang and Song Dynasties. In history, shipbuilding is basically based on wood, and the tonnage of wooden sailboats is up to 300 tons. The tonnage of steel vessels currently under construction is below 300 tons. The tonnage of freighters built in Quanzhou has generally been below 5,000 tons, and freighters with tonnages above 8,000 tons have not been built. The construction of the freighter is a breakthrough in the history of shipbuilding in Quanzhou, and it also marks a new step for the development of private fishing vessels in Quanzhou.
