Rodman Polyships has signed a contract with Kelvin Hughes for the X and S-band SharpEye radar (purchasing supply) system for a series of new ships for the Oman Royal Police Coast Guard (ROPCG).

According to Kelvin Hughes, this solid SharpEye radar system provides industry-leading maritime situational awareness due to its advanced target detection capabilities. Even in the harshest climatic conditions, the radar echo signal is processed by Doppler, and the SharpEye radar system can identify targets with low radar cross section (RCS) from semi-submersible targets to the smallest uncooperative vessels. Due to the low power output of the radar, the probability of being discovered by the ESM device will be reduced. Since there is no magnetron, it will reduce the cost of the entire radar life. Since maintenance requirements have been minimized, there is no need to equip any radar engineer on board.

According to Kelvin Hughes, after being equipped with the SharpEye radar system, due to its superior monitoring (purchasing supply) performance, these vessels will be suitable for deployment throughout the Oman coastline to the southwest, approximately 1,700 km from the Strait of Hormuz in northern Oman. The border of the Republic of Yemen.

This is the fourth time the Oman Royal Police Coast Guard has ordered a ship built by a Spanish shipyard. The delivery period will last from this year to the beginning of 2017.
