The “Guidelines for Air Quality Assessment in Passenger Cars” GB/T27630-2011 (hereinafter referred to as the “Guide”), which has been implemented since March 1, is expected to solve the concerns of car consumers about the air quality of automobiles. These standards are not only applicable to new cars, but also The car in the car can also be referred to. Insiders pointed out that the "Guide" is China's first in-car air quality standard, which fills the blank of China's in-vehicle air quality standards, so that the air detection inside the car is finally subject to standards.

In this "Guide", the limits of eight common types of volatile organic compounds in the car, such as benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, styrene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein, are specified in the air of the vehicle. It is worth noting that the Guide is only a recommended national standard, not a mandatory one.

As one of the drafters of the standard, Ge Yunshan, a professor at the School of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering at Beijing Institute of Technology and director of the National Laboratory of Automotive Dynamics and Emissions Testing, said, “These pollutions are mostly from the interior of vehicles, such as seats, dashboards, and ground. Glues, seals, etc., or from thinners, glue paints and coatings required for vehicle production."

It is understood that there are three main sources of air pollution in the car, one is the various accessories from the car of the new car; the second is from the automotive interior parts, mainly plastic, fiber textile, leather, rubber, etc. Four types of materials; three are solvent-based paints, thinners and adhesive glue paints and coatings used in production.

Ye Sheng, director of Ipsos Automotive Research, said that the Guide will regulate automobile manufacturers to pay more attention to the materials and processes of automotive interiors, and to pay more attention to the air quality of vehicles.
