Motor vehicle compulsory retirement standards will be implemented on May 1

The website of the Ministry of Commerce announced on the 14th the "Regulations on the Mandatory End-of-life Vehicle Discarding Standards", which clearly states that according to the use of motor vehicles and safety technology and emission inspections, the state will impose mandatory scrap on motor vehicles that meet the scrapping standards.

At the same time, the new standards have also made new regulations on the service life, including the use of small and micro rental passenger cars for eight years, medium-sized passenger cars for ten years, large-scale rental passenger cars for twelve years, and leased passenger cars for fifteen years. Small, micro-non-operating passenger cars, large-scale non-operating cars, and wheeled special-purpose machinery vehicles have no limit on the number of years of use. The regulations will come into effect on May 1 this year.

According to the regulations, the registered motor vehicles should be forcibly scrapped, including: reaching the specified service life; after repairs and adjustments still do not meet the relevant requirements of the national standards for motor vehicle safety technology for in-use vehicles; after repairs and adjustments or the use of control technologies, The emission of pollutants or noise to the atmosphere still does not comply with the relevant requirements of the national standards for in-use vehicles; after the expiry of the period of validity of the inspection, no motor vehicle inspection mark has been obtained within three consecutive periods of motor vehicle inspection.

Regarding the service life of various types of motor vehicles, the regulations stipulate the use of small and micro-rental passenger cars for 8 years, medium-sized rental passenger cars for 10 years, large-scale rental passenger cars for 12 years, bus passenger cars for 13 years, and special school buses for 15 years; The use of large and medium-sized non-operating passenger vehicles (excluding large-sized cars) for 20 years; the use of three-wheeled motorcycles for 12 years, and the use of other motorcycles for 13 years.

According to the regulations, there are no restrictions on the use of small and micro-sized non-operating passenger cars, large-scale non-operating cars, and wheeled special-purpose machinery vehicles. However, according to regulations, the state guides the retirement of motor vehicles that have reached a certain mileage. Among them, small and micro-sized non-operating passenger vehicles and large non-operating passenger cars travel 600,000 km, medium-sized non-operating passenger vehicles drive 500,000 km, and large-scale non-operating passenger vehicles drive 600,000 km.
