Tokyo University and Keio University jointly conducted this project. The new hardware uses what is called sequential timed all-optical mapping technology (STAMP). Its optical shutter will continuously shoot images, and the shutter time is less than one trillionth of a second, resulting in an image resolution of 450*450 pixels. The principle of this motion picture photography is to spatially distribute the target over time, use all-optical maps to sequentially timed photographs, and use spatial and temporal dispersion.
In essence, it eliminates the need to repeatedly acquire images, which means it can be up to 1,000 times faster than a typical high-speed camera.
