Since the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, the diesel engine has continuously adjusted its industrial structure and replaced its products. The optimized resource allocation level and industrial concentration have been greatly improved. The "Analytical Report on the Forecast and Transformation of Production and Sales Demand of China's Diesel Engine Industry in 2012-2016" released by the Industry Research Institute of Forward-looking Industry shows that in recent years, the total industrial output value of the diesel engine industry has increased year by year. From 2007, the total output value is less than 100 billion yuan. In the year, the total output value exceeded 150 billion yuan and the compound growth rate reached 19%.

According to statistics, the number of enterprises above designated size in the diesel engine industry in China in 2010 was 670, an increase of 32 over the previous year. The annual sales of the industry reached 167.638 billion yuan, an increase of 35.58% year-on-year; the profit from product sales was 21.076 billion yuan, an increase of 49.31% year-on-year; the total profit was 14.583 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 63.42%.

At present, the domestic diesel engine companies are mainly foreign-funded enterprises. In 2010, the foreign-funded enterprises realized a total sales income of 71.537 billion yuan, which accounted for 42.67% of the industry's total. The proportion of state-owned enterprises and private enterprises is also relatively high, of which state-owned enterprises achieved a cumulative total of 26.654 billion yuan in 2010, accounting for 15.9 percent of the total.
