It is reported that ABB , the power and automation technology group , has received a $ 55 million agreement from the Brazilian utility Eólicas do Sul , which will provide the company with three new substations and transmission infrastructure. The Brazilian government plans to increase the share of the wind power market in renewable energy, and this project will be part of the plan.
   ABB Power Systems Branch Prime Minister Brice Koch said the substations will help integrate wind power and, at the same time, boost the power supply to meet growing industrial, commercial and residential demand. The project is expected to be completed in 2014 .
   Koch added: “ They will also strengthen the construction of the transmission grid and help to consolidate the reliability and effectiveness of the power supply. â€
   ABB will supply supervisory control and data acquisition and telecommunications systems and IEC61850 compatible substation automation, control and protection equipment to Brazilian wind power projects .
